Timothy Zila: I want a “Lost Biography”
Editor’s Note: One of the things we here at LOSTblog.com like to do is highlight fan contributions either as art, video, or even the written word. For the record, I would be interested in reading (or viewing) a behind the scenes, inside the writer’s room account of the creative processes that worked largely behind the scenes during it’s six year run.
If anyone wants to submit another article from another point of view get my attention on twitter, or email me or any of the staff. Even if I disagree with a point of view, I would certainly try to give anyone equal space.
Jon (@LOST_BOSS)
As Lost comes to a close there’s one loose-end I’d like to see tied off: I want an honest, uncensored account of the writing and production of the show. Not because I want them to prove they weren’t making it up as they went along - we know that’s what they did, more or less, for the first season and something they probably intermittently continued throughout Seasons 2-6. No, I want a biography of the show (written either by the writers, or in conjunction with them) because it could be an invaluable look into the creative process. What stories did they plan that never panned out? How did their vision change and mutate as old writers left and new ones came aboard, and with them new ideas? How did they deal with the reality of running a television series where actors who had signed on for one year only decided to leave the show - forcing them to kill them off prematurely and do their best to patch up the storyline. (I mean, come on, the back-cover practically writes itself!)

4 Questions With… The Sonic Fence Ear Plugs
First up, the ear plugs that Amy used to walk through the sonic fence unharmed in 'LaFleur'
1. You've obviously worked closely with the sonic fence over the years. Can you tell us how exactly it repels the Smoke Monster? Does it play hypersonic awful boy band music?
I'm sorry. What?
2. If the Smoke Monster can take human form, why doesn't it just pop you in its ears and walk through the sonic fence?
Are you talking to me? I can't hear a word you're saying.
3. How did Mikhail survive going through the fence? Was he secretly wearing you? Or is he just stupidly hard to kill?
You're going to have to speak a lot louder. I can't hear a thing.
4. I SAID 'HOW DID MIKHAIL SURVIVE GOING THROUGH THE FENCE?'
No, it's no good. I can't understand you at all.
Hmmm... maybe I'll wrap it up there then.
So... not the most auspicious start. Hopefully my next interviewee will prove a little more forthcoming (suggestions for interviewees and questions are completely welcome. Post them in the comments or tweet them to @SmokinMuffins)
The LOSTBlog Interview: A Retrospective
Well Lost fans, the excitement is building. We can practically taste the anticipation. In just mere hours the last ever Lost season premiere will be upon us. While we plan our viewing parties, struggle to resist spoiler temptation and wonder how it's all going to end, let's take a look back over some of our LOSTBlog Interviews: The 16 Questions We Asked Everyone in a special Lost Premiere Week Retrospective.

New Matthew Fox Interview
In a smart London hotel, Matthew Fox, the star of Lost, has a killer hangover after a night out in Soho. 'I'm feeling kinda rough,' he drawls. 'I didn't mean for this to happen but I went out, there was drink, more drink - then even more. It was unexpected.'
Fox, 43, plays Jack Shephard, leader of a group of crash survivors in the show whose final series begins here on Friday. The part was originally written for Batman star Michael Keaton, and Shephard was supposed to be killed off after the first episode.
Fox shrugs: 'It's all part of the Lost myth. Strange things happen off screen as well as on. One of the most exciting things about the show for me was that I never knew whether I was going to get killed off. None of us did. Some actors hated it; I loved the idea of never knowing what was going to happen next. Most of us weren't even told the real ending. It's important to keep everyone guessing.'
Married to a former model, Margherita Ronchi, with two children, Kyle, 11, and Byron, eight, Fox is currently working on a new superhero movie called Billy Smoke, which is out next year.

@Loster21's Tweets O' the Day Hawaii Premiere 2010 Edition
SmokinMuffins - Fellow #Lost fans drooling jealously at the beachgoers, remember your cries of 'No! Why?! I salivate' are an anagram for 'Lost Hawaii envy'.
Yes, we were all jealous of our friends in Hawaii today! Here’s a review of the day’s events as seen through the tweets of the Lost fans who were there! This edition of TOTD now picks up where I left off with the Overnight Edition, tweeps getting ready or already on the beach this morning, January 30, 2010, and goes straight through to “It’s Starting!”:
@Loster21's Tweets O' the Day Overnight Edition for Hawaii Premiere Coverage

And we love you, Damon! He tweeted this from the Hawaii Sunset on the Beach Pre-Premiere party yesterday, January 29, 2010. This post, and all posts by me, will be spoiler free! Although everyone I’ve been watching has been great, there were a few very minor spoilers that I won’t post, to protect the very sensitive! I’m posting this with a 10:30 Pacific time cutoff because the tweets are coming fast and furious from our Hawaii attendees! There was a press mixer last night, a fan event, JOpinionated had a party, and people are already getting in place for tonight’s premiere, so here goes, starting off with a bang:

New Interview with Yunjin Kim
When I read the script, I thought it was like a movie script. I had never seen anything like this on television. I thought, "Either this is going to be the best TV show or the worst TV show." And when I say it had the potential to be bad, I mean so bad that we would be made fun of for years!
What do you think of the journey of personal growth that Sun has taken over the years?
Sun has come such a long way from the pilot. If you remember, she was very subservient, a really quiet, scared woman who did whatever she was told by her husband. Now you cut to Season 6 and she’s a very different woman and very much her own person. That’s something that [producers] J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof promised from the beginning. I was concerned that I was playing into this stereotypical image of that Asian woman. But J.J. said, "You’re going to end up loving this character."
Sun and her husband Jin (played by Daniel Dae Kim) differ from most of the other characters. Your thoughts about their relationship?
Sun and Jin’s stories have touched a lot of people, I think, because we are the only married couple on the island. We do have Rose and Bernard, but they’re guest stars. They sometimes show up and sometimes don’t, and they’re loved by fans as well. But Sun and Jin represent the only marriage and the most real and most tangible relationship on the island. And people root for us. They can’t wait to see us get back together and into each other’s arms. People really want to see a happy ending for Sun and Jin. It’s really touching.
What will be your most cherished memory of working on the show?
I had a such good feeling about it once I stepped into the set of Lost for the first time and saw that chopped-off half plane sitting on the beach. That was my first impression: "Oh, my God, is that a real plane chopped up in half?" And they said, "Yeah, we brought it in from L.A." This beautiful Hawaiian beach and the chaos of the crash site to contradict it, it was quite stunning. I think I will always remember that first moment of just going, "Wow!"
