VIDEO: LOST Season 6 Premiere – Red Carpet on the Beach!

Behold!  The stars and peeps of LOST put in the extra effort for fans at the premiere!

LOST VIDS: Let Us Entertain You! "All The Lonely People"

If you've never been to Lost Video Island, you are missing out!  It's a terrific fan site dedicated to creating "vids" using clips from LOST.  If you've got the LOST blues, I highly recommend heading over to their main site and looking around.  My favorite section is the "CONTEST" section.  Monthly contests are created and vidders submit their creations for judging.  This vid is from the Beatles' Song contest from June 2009.  Enjoy!

Countering the Countdown Blues: A BIG, HUGE Dose of JACK!!

Okay LOST peeps (and JACK/MATTHEW FOX fans), since I officially feel guilty about how so many of our LOSTblog pals weren't at the Hawai'i mini-premiere, AND since I am now DYING to see the FULL premiere Tuesday night, I'm posting something really special!

Enjoy the Jack diversion - only 2 more days until complete LOST Season 6 satisfaction!

LOST Promo from ABC (SPOILERS-Season 6 footage – YBW)

SPOILER ALERT - YBW = You’ve been warned.  So if you want to stay a Season 6 scene virgin until Tuesday, don’t hit the play button.  But if you want to go ahead and pop-it, hit the play button.

How many of you watched it?  Go on be honest.

Timothy Zila: I want a “Lost Biography”

Editor’s Note: One of the things we here at LOSTblog.com like to do is highlight fan contributions either as art, video, or even the written word.  For the record, I would be interested in reading (or viewing) a behind the scenes, inside the writer’s room account of the creative processes that worked largely behind the scenes during it’s six year run.

If anyone wants to submit another article from another point of view get my attention on twitter, or email me or any of the staff.  Even if I disagree with a point of view, I would certainly try to give anyone equal space.

Jon (@LOST_BOSS)

As Lost comes to a close there’s one loose-end I’d like to see tied off: I want an honest, uncensored account of the writing and production of the show. Not because I want them to prove they weren’t making it up as they went along - we know that’s what they did, more or less, for the first season and something they probably intermittently continued throughout Seasons 2-6. No, I want a biography of the show (written either by the writers, or in conjunction with them) because it could be an invaluable look into the creative process. What stories did they plan that never panned out? How did their vision change and mutate as old writers left and new ones came aboard, and with them new ideas? How did they deal with the reality of running a television series where actors who had signed on for one year only decided to leave the show - forcing them to kill them off prematurely and do their best to patch up the storyline. (I mean, come on, the back-cover practically writes itself!)

@Loster21's Tweets O' the Day for January 31, 2010

Well Lost fans, we’re getting down to it!  With last night’s Hawaii premiere the spoiler-free are getting more and more tense, and some are just leaving Twitter until after Tuesday’s premiere.  I’ll just post a little more about the Hawaii premiere, and yes, SPOILER FREE!

4 Questions With… The Sonic Fence Ear Plugs

Hi. Juliet's Smokin' Muffins here with the first of hopefully many interviews with some of the less-appreciated props and objects from Lost.

First up, the ear plugs that Amy used to walk through the sonic fence unharmed in 'LaFleur'

1. You've obviously worked closely with the sonic fence over the years. Can you tell us how exactly it repels the Smoke Monster? Does it play hypersonic awful boy band music?

I'm sorry. What?

2. If the Smoke Monster can take human form, why doesn't it just pop you in its ears and walk through the sonic fence?

Are you talking to me? I can't hear a word you're saying.

3. How did Mikhail survive going through the fence? Was he secretly wearing you? Or is he just stupidly hard to kill?

You're going to have to speak a lot louder. I can't hear a thing.

4.  I SAID 'HOW DID MIKHAIL SURVIVE GOING THROUGH THE FENCE?'

No, it's no good. I can't understand you at all.

Hmmm... maybe I'll wrap it up there then.

So... not the most auspicious start. Hopefully my next interviewee will prove a little more forthcoming (suggestions for interviewees and questions are completely welcome. Post them in the comments or tweet them to @SmokinMuffins)

The LOSTBlog Interview: A Retrospective

Well Lost fans, the excitement is building. We can practically taste the anticipation. In just mere hours the last ever Lost season premiere will be upon us. While we plan our viewing parties, struggle to resist spoiler temptation and wonder how it's all going to end, let's take a look back over some of our LOSTBlog Interviews: The 16 Questions We Asked Everyone in a special Lost Premiere Week Retrospective.

New Matthew Fox Interview

In a smart London hotel, Matthew Fox, the star of Lost, has a killer hangover after a night out in Soho. 'I'm feeling kinda rough,' he drawls. 'I didn't mean for this to happen but I went out, there was drink, more drink - then even more. It was unexpected.'
Fox, 43, plays Jack Shephard, leader of a group of crash survivors in the show whose final series begins here on Friday. The part was originally written for Batman star Michael Keaton, and Shephard was supposed to be killed off after the first episode.
Fox shrugs: 'It's all part of the Lost myth. Strange things happen off screen as well as on. One of the most exciting things about the show for me was that I never knew whether I was going to get killed off. None of us did. Some actors hated it; I loved the idea of never knowing what was going to happen next. Most of us weren't even told the real ending. It's important to keep everyone guessing.'
Married to a former model, Margherita Ronchi, with two children, Kyle, 11, and Byron, eight, Fox is currently working on a new superhero movie called Billy Smoke, which is out next year.

@Loster21's Tweets O' the Day Hawaii Premiere 2010 Edition

Smokin' Muffins SmokinMuffins - Fellow #Lost fans drooling jealously at the beachgoers, remember your cries of 'No! Why?! I salivate' are an anagram for 'Lost Hawaii envy'.

Yes, we were all jealous of our friends in Hawaii today! Here’s a review of the day’s events as seen  through the tweets of the Lost fans who were there!  This edition of TOTD now picks up where I left off with the Overnight Edition, tweeps getting ready or already on the beach this morning, January 30, 2010, and goes straight through to “It’s Starting!”:

Damon Lindelof DamonLindelof - God, I love LOST fans.

And we love you, Damon! He tweeted this from the Hawaii Sunset on the Beach Pre-Premiere party yesterday, January 29, 2010.  This post, and all posts by me, will be spoiler free!  Although everyone I’ve been watching has been great, there were a few very minor spoilers that I won’t post, to protect the very sensitive!  I’m posting this with a 10:30 Pacific time cutoff because the tweets are coming fast and furious from our Hawaii attendees!  There was a press mixer last night, a fan event, JOpinionated had a party, and people are already getting in place for tonight’s premiere, so here goes, starting off with a bang:

Katy is the primary sole Lost podcaster in the UK so it would have been rude not to ask her to take the interview.

New Interview with Yunjin Kim

What were your expectations when you signed on as a cast member?

When I read the script, I thought it was like a movie script. I had never seen anything like this on television. I thought, "Either this is going to be the best TV show or the worst TV show." And when I say it had the potential to be bad, I mean so bad that we would be made fun of for years!

What do you think of the journey of personal growth that Sun has taken over the years?

Sun has come such a long way from the pilot. If you remember, she was very subservient, a really quiet, scared woman who did whatever she was told by her husband. Now you cut to Season 6 and she’s a very different woman and very much her own person. That’s something that [producers] J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof promised from the beginning. I was concerned that I was playing into this stereotypical image of that Asian woman. But J.J. said, "You’re going to end up loving this character."

Sun and her husband Jin (played by Daniel Dae Kim) differ from most of the other characters. Your thoughts about their relationship?

Sun and Jin’s stories have touched a lot of people, I think, because we are the only married couple on the island. We do have Rose and Bernard, but they’re guest stars. They sometimes show up and sometimes don’t, and they’re loved by fans as well. But Sun and Jin represent the only marriage and the most real and most tangible relationship on the island. And people root for us. They can’t wait to see us get back together and into each other’s arms. People really want to see a happy ending for Sun and Jin. It’s really touching.

What will be your most cherished memory of working on the show?

I had a such good feeling about it once I stepped into the set of Lost for the first time and saw that chopped-off half plane sitting on the beach. That was my first impression: "Oh, my God, is that a real plane chopped up in half?" And they said, "Yeah, we brought it in from L.A." This beautiful Hawaiian beach and the chaos of the crash site to contradict it, it was quite stunning. I think I will always remember that first moment of just going, "Wow!"

@Loster21's Tweets O' the Day for January 29, 2010

Which today seems to be the “Going to Hawaii” edition!  Not me of course, I feel just like @HitFixDaniel:

Daniel Fienberg HitFixDaniel - [To myself...] *I'm not resentful of the people in Hawaii for LOST.* *I'm not resentful of the people in Hawaii for LOST.*

But if you’d like to follow those lucky people on Twitter, click on the link to LOSTblog’s Twitter list of attendees here and see what they have to say.  Most of them have pledged to not tweet any spoilers, but follow at your own risk.

Here are some tweets from the mighty travelers:

Damon Lindelof DamonLindelof - Always nervous when flying with Carlton, Eddy, Adam and Liz. Potential for darkly ironic headlines abound.

Adam Horowitz AdamHorowitzLA - @damonlindelof relax, I've actually flown a plane

MariaElena Fernandez writerchica - The Oceanic 6 don't appear to be on my flight. Taking this as a good sign.

Blythe Ann Johnson Roobadoo87 - http://twitpic.com/10c083 - On zeee plane. Here's to hopin jacob gets us there quickly.

Ob FuSc8 Ob_FuSc8 - Just boarded flight to Honolulu!

And as the day went on we saw tweets from those who had arrived, including many of our favorite bloggers:

Karen Mauro KarensLostNotes - is not in guam!

MariaElena Fernandez writerchica - On The Island and actually lost. Funny. Zippys, get me through it. #lost

Karen Mauro KarensLostNotes - Hiking to DIamond Head and heading to the temple. Meeting fellow Losties later!

Erika Olson erikaolson - http://twitpic.com/10dgaw - #LOST bloggers unite! With @jopinionated at Hula Grill this morning.

MariaElena Fernandez writerchica - It's 2010 on The Island. At least, for now. The sky is a bit foggy/cloudy & I wonder if it's gonna turn purple & make my nose bleed. #lost

Erika Olson erikaolson - http://twitpic.com/10efu9 - With press area & VIP seats set up, not a lot of room left for 15k+ fans, I fear...

Josh Gordon joshRgordon - @MchlEmrsnNews - http://twitpic.com/10efje - Ben's House. Yep. I was there.

Jack Glatfelter crackpotjack - Ok today I saw 3 Lost actors. They were the first 3 clues in the Global Cash Card contest or think love triangle

Ryan Ozawa hawaii - http://twitpic.com/10edw4 - Packed for a LOST weekend. #lostpremiere

And he LIVES there!  As for the showrunners:

Damon Lindelof DamonLindelof - Aloha! We have arrived. Let the games begin. And by games, I mean "work."

Carlton Cuse CarltonCuse - Live Hawaiian music is the backdrop for script work with Damon and LOST writer/ep Liz Sarnoff.

Adam Horowitz AdamHorowitzLA - I see @damonlindelof and @carltoncuse by the pool "working" -- and by working, I do mean WORKING. Cause they are. With Sarnoff. No kidding

But the poor editor had to stay back in LA:

Mark Goldman mjgoldman - Just finished editor's cut of 611. (Missing the scenes with Charles Barkley; they'll be shot later) Sent to director Bender for vituperation

Oh don’t worry, he’s a kidder.  As for the rest of us stuck at home:

LOST T-shirts lostees - peace, love, and LOST is what matters! http://bit.ly/bK9VLc

Chelsea Hawk letloverule42 - I'm so jealous of all of the people I've been seeing who are watching #lost for the first time recently. It's truly a piece of televisual art

Libby Burnett LibbyLilo - I want #Lost NOW! Can't stand waiting any longer. My foot is sore from tapping impatiently.

I’m with you, LibbyLilo!  But don’t worry, this Lostie is staying spoiler-free!  I hope all of you are keeping YOUR tweets spoiler free!  If you’d like to chat about Lost, particularly after the episode, LOSTblog has a chatroom set up.  More about that on this website in the next day or two!  In the meantime, I’ll be watching your #Lost tweets!
