Tom Wilson blogs about a wide variety of TV shows on his site Simply Television but shows his dedication to Lost by staying up into the early hours to watch a live stream from the U.S.; Tom is based on the south coast of England and so (like me!) is five hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time. We liked him so much we asked him to join our LostBlog.com team. You can read his posts here and follow him on Twitter here.
Q: How long have you been watching Lost?
A: I have watched Lost since the pilot but for a little while in S2 my interest slipped slightly but by the end of that season I was completely hooked. I remember seeing the promo for the pilot on Channel 4 (UK) and it had a lot of the plane crash in it. It looked very extravagant for a one hour TV show so I knew then that I had to check it out.
Q: How did Lost get its polar bear claws into you?
When the first season finished in the UK the second second had started in the US so Channel 4 [Sky 1 took over the show in S3) showed footage from it. They had slowed down and blinking images of Eko, Ana and Libby, etc. knocking Michael and Sawyer out when they found Jin. This really excited me because I assumed they were Others. The moment I became properly hooked though was when Michael shot Ana and Libby and freed Ben. I had no idea that was going to happen and that scene was the first real moment I knew this show was something very special. The lack of music was deafening.
Q: Favorite character?
A: It has to be Ben. He's one of my favourite characters on TV let alone Lost.
Q: Least favorite character?
A: Charlotte. Awful character, awful actress and an awful waste of time.
Q: Favorite episode or season?
A: My favourite episode is tied between Greatest Hits and Trica Tannaka Is Dead. The premise of Greatest Hits was superb and the scene where Charlie says goodbye to Aaron and Claire gets to me everytime I watch it. Trica Tannaka is Dead is the episode that has made me laugh the most. Sawyer drinking a beer with Roger Linus's skeleton......genius.
Q: Least favorite episode or season?
A: Jughead because it contains the worst acted moment of the entire series. It was when Rebecca Madar fell over because of the flashes. It baffles me how the director/Darlton allowed this moment to remain in the show.
Q: Are you Team Jack or Team Locke?
A: I would probably side with Team Locke. I believe in fate and think Locke has always done what he thinks is right whereas Jack especially in the latter half of S4 lies to himself.
Q: If you had to be one of the following, which would it be and why: an 815 survivor, an Other or a member of the Dharma Initiative?
A: I'd be an 815 survivor because surviving a plane crash would be a once in a lifetime experience and the compenstation would mean I wouldn't have to pay a bill again.
Q: Which character’s demise were you most upset to see happening?
A: Jacob. I think we could see him back in some context but I would have liked him to go head to head with Flocke in S6 with Losties, Others and Aijrans taking a side.

Q: Tell us a bit about your blog.
A: I have always been interested in TV and over the last couple of years that interest has grown. I found myself thinking about episodes of my favorite shows a lot and just decided to write my thoughts down. I try to keep it pretty basic: whenever I think of a theory or notice something in a show I post it.
Q: What are you favorite online Lost communities, blogs, podcasts, etc.?
A: I visit Dark UFO and Spoiler TV a lot and Ryan's Hawaiiup blog is a must read (spoilers hehe). During Lost's seasons I listen to The Transmission, Donald is Lost, Keys To Lost, Jacobs Cabin, It Only Ends Once, Black Rock, Lost LR Now and The ODI without fail and pick up some others from The Lost Podcasting Network.
Q: Tell us something interesting/scary/amusing/downright weird about how your time in the Lost fan-verse has changed your life.
A: Well as a result of Lost I plan on going to Hawaii to visit some filming locations. I think the weirdest thing I notice though is the numbers in everyday life a lot more than I would have done. Seeing a number 42 bus for example.
Q: You’re in an elevator with someone who has never seen as much as a second of Lost. You got on in the lobby and you’re both headed to the fifteeth floor. How do you convince them to buy and watch all the DVDs before the elevator gets there?
A: I'd say, "Hey, do you like seeing beautiful women climbing trees, sunbathing and wrestling in mud or beautiful men without a shirt chopping wood, swimming or snapping peoples neck with his legs? You do? Okay, check this show out!"
Q: Has watching Lost sparked any creative inspiration in your life, i.e. writing, media, art, etc.?
A: I don't think i'd have my blog if I haven't gotten into Lost and although it's not very good it's still taught me alot about computers I didn't know. I have also brought a couple of Stephen King books I wouldn't have read.
Q: How do you plan on combatting PLDS (Post Lost Distress Syndrome or do you think we’re all destined to end up continously re-watching our Lost: The Complete Series Ultimate Box Set for the rest of our lives?
A: I have a terrible feeling when Lost ends I'm going to do something stupid to try and fill the hole it's left with something like FlashForward or Heroes but eventually after I stop that madness I will probably watch the entire series on a constant loop.
Q: What do you think will be Lost’s legacy?
A: The things that I think people will remember the most is how it progressed the use of podcasts and the locations/scenery that was used in the show.
