In the break between Live TweetUps a few of us have started pondering the plight of Locke in view of what we found out in the season 5 finale. Part of me is trying to connect the dots, while the other pouts in a corner and mumbles, “Dude, episode 10, give it time man, give it time.” At any rate the opening scene of Raised by Another gives us more Locke-fodder to digest with the freaky-eyed vision of Locke from Claire’s nightmares.Speaking of Claire, we’ve gone a season without seeing her amble across the screen asking about Chaaalie or trying to find a baby-sitter for baby Aaron so she can hunt for messages in a bottle or go scare seagulls. So its quite nice to revisit these early season looks at a VERY pregnant Claire.
The opening flashback, centers on the free-will choice that Claire faces with the first look of the series of a pregnancy test. (We’ll revisit the pregnancy test again in season two, but did anyone catch the manufacturer of this test?) The discussion with the boyfriend only foreshadows his choice to ditch Claire when the going gets rough.
We’re also treated to the first look at our friend the wacky psychic that can’t really figure out what the future holds… Is it me or shouldn’t a psychic, you know, know the future? Not figure it out as he goes along, keep the baby, give it up, no don’t, fly to LA. Geeez. Jacob would’ve just touched her and that would have been that. Hmmm. Taking bets on a Jacob touches Claire flashback for early season six.
Lastly the on-island drama focuses its eye on the creepy Ethan who’s increasingly around the edges (certainly not as evident the first time around as he is on the re-watch tilt).
His creepiness only increases as we follow Hurley around collecting his names for the manifest and comes to the conclusion that Ethan isn’t from Canaananana, but something darkly different.With that as prelude, lets cut to the Twee-Cap (courtesy of @batchout, regex’s and some handy search and replaces) and let you read, then… COMMENT (<--- that a hint).

Locke is in the shadows when Sayid returns at the end of the island, overhearing the report of Sayid’s encounter with Rousseau and the whispers. Also listening when Hugo reports that the census has revealed one person that wasn’t on the plane with them (thanks to cross-checking the manifest that Sawyer gave Hurley).
Ethan. Ethan Rom. Though Hurley didn’t state his name the cross-cuts to Claire and Charlie’s confrontation with Ethan tell the rest of the story. So ominous the first time, somewhat interesting looking back from season five. Ethan acting on orders and looking after the baby after working closely with Juliette and the problems with pregnancies by the others, we have an idea of ‘Why’, but Ethan’s actions to come still stray a bit off the reservation.
Oh.. and just as an aside. Last episode, Locke and Ethan brought bag some luggage they found in the jungle (one included the red hawaiian shirt Hurley used as a golf flag) while hunting together. AAAaaannnnddd. In Ethan’s past (and Locke’s future) Ethan shot Locke… did he recognize him on this, the second time they met?
