8 Questions With… The Black Rock Dynamite

Hi folks. Juliet’s Smokin’ Muffins here again. This time I’m interviewing the Black Rock Dynamite that made its usual explosive appearance in Everybody Loves Hugo.

Dynamite, thanks for making time to speak to us

No sweat.

Are you disappointed you didn't quite make it to the end of the show?

A little. But I'm not surprised. I had my fair share of blow-ups with certain cast members. They were always going to write me out sooner or later.

What kind of blow-ups?

Oh, I don't want to go into that. Let's just say I have a bit of a short fuse sometimes.

Was it Doc Arzt?

Umm... let's just say I don't know much about Arzt, but I know what I like.

And I don't like Arzt.

Okay, so who was your favourite cast member to work with?

Oh, y'know, I don't really want to answer that either. They're all great. But I will say I am a little disappointed I never got a scene with Nikki and Paulo. Buried alive after being paralysed by a spider bite? That's kinda creepy and cool. But they could have also been blown into a million pieces. Not sure how that would have worked. But, hey, that's a problem for the egghead writers to solve.

Do you have any future projects in the pipeline?

Oh, you should never put dynamite in a pipeline. You could bring down your entire water delivery system.

Um, sure. But will we see you on television again?

Definitely. I have an upcoming appearance on Glee. Be careful when you open that locker, Puck!

Anything else?

I'm working on a Lost spin-off too. A sitcom called TNT's Company. I share an apartment with two sexy roommates and each week we have all kinds of madcap misunderstandings and hijinks and massive explosions that destroy half the building.

I'm sure you'll do a bang-up job on it. Thanks again for talking to us.

As always, suggestions and questions for future interviews are welcome. Post them in the comments or tweet them to @SmokinMuffins

Some Failed Interviews

Hi folks. Juliet’s Smokin’ Muffins here again with an update. I've been asked by literally thousands* of Lost fans when my next interview was going to go up.

Well, I've been trying to get interviews with some of the other inanimate objects from the show, but as the finale draws closer it gets more and more difficult. Here, for example, are just a handful of the objects who have knocked me back or proven unsatisfactory in the last few weeks:

  • Isabella's Necklace: Too cross to talk

  • The Black Rock: Couldn't stop to chat and just flew straight past me (but did give a big wave)

  • Jacob's Bottle: Turned out to be really winey.

  • Sun's Top Button: Looked like it was going to open up, but didn't (at least, not to me)

  • Zoe's Taser: Had nothing of substance to say - just in it for the shock value

Hopefully I'll have a bit more luck this week. Will keep you posted.

8 Questions With… Hurley’s Guitar Case

Hi everybody. Juliet's Smokin' Muffins here again. Following on from my less-than-successful interview with the Sonic Fence Ear Plugs, I decided to turn my charred attention to a more recent prop: Hurley's Guitar Case

Hurley's Guitar Case, how are you?

I'm sorry. I was happy to be referred to as a 'guitar case' last season. Help with the mystery and suspense and that. Fine. Whatever. But now that my contents have been revealed, I don't want to be referred to as a 'guitar case' any longer. I'm a bloody ankh god, I am.

Oo-kay. So I take it you knew the ankh was inside you all along?

Yep. All last year with everybody speculating 'What's in the guitar case?', I was just sitting back, grinning, thinking 'I know and you're all wrong'. It was fun being so incredibly smug and all-knowing. Now I know how Damon and Carlton feel.

What were the craziest suggestions you heard?

Somebody thought I had a tiny baby island in there. Another thought there were a series of ever-smaller guitar cases like those Russian dolls. And I remember one person thought the case contained a clone of J J Abrams. All crazy talk. Only Hurley and I knew the truth.

So Hurley did peek inside?

Of course he did. It's Hurley, dude. Of course he's going to have a little peek.  Frankly, I was very surprised Jacob entrusted him with the mission of delivering me. Don't get me wrong. Hurley's a lovely guy, but I felt like saying to Jacob, 'mate, if you want that ankh delivered, why not use Federal Express?'

Presumably the Federal Express team don't deliver to the island.

Hey, it's "When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight!". Not "When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight except if you're sending to the Lost island". And it's not "When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight, but also via a trip to the 1970s and a nuclear explosion."

But you made it there in the end. Did you know there was a message inside the ankh?

That bit I didn't know. I had no idea. When that crazy temple guy started smashing the ankh to pieces, I was all like 'dude, who do you think you are? Jimi Hendrix?'

I'm assuming you don't know what was written on the paper then?

Nope.

Care to have a guess?

Hmmm... Maybe the chords for 'Smoke on the Water'?

Okay. Thanks for your time, Hurley's Guitar Ankh Case.

4 Questions With… The Sonic Fence Ear Plugs

Hi. Juliet's Smokin' Muffins here with the first of hopefully many interviews with some of the less-appreciated props and objects from Lost.

First up, the ear plugs that Amy used to walk through the sonic fence unharmed in 'LaFleur'

1. You've obviously worked closely with the sonic fence over the years. Can you tell us how exactly it repels the Smoke Monster? Does it play hypersonic awful boy band music?

I'm sorry. What?

2. If the Smoke Monster can take human form, why doesn't it just pop you in its ears and walk through the sonic fence?

Are you talking to me? I can't hear a word you're saying.

3. How did Mikhail survive going through the fence? Was he secretly wearing you? Or is he just stupidly hard to kill?

You're going to have to speak a lot louder. I can't hear a thing.

4.  I SAID 'HOW DID MIKHAIL SURVIVE GOING THROUGH THE FENCE?'

No, it's no good. I can't understand you at all.

Hmmm... maybe I'll wrap it up there then.

So... not the most auspicious start. Hopefully my next interviewee will prove a little more forthcoming (suggestions for interviewees and questions are completely welcome. Post them in the comments or tweet them to @SmokinMuffins)
