LOSTalypse – What They Died For

I’m loving the wink-nudge greek chorus lines that have been happening at the beginning of the episodes this season, the classic example is last week’s, “Every answer I give you will only lead to more questions.”  I thought this week’s was more subtle, but still awesome:
David (representing audience): … You’re not gonna get all weird are you?

Jack (representing LOST): Why would I get weird?

David: Justdon’tget weird.

Jack: I won’t

image Aside from that I’ve been proven wrong with just about every one of my theories that I blabbed on incessantly in the We Talk About LOST podcast last week.  Here is an off the top of my head list of my epic fails:

  • Smoke Monster isn’t Jacob’s brother, but an embodiment of the evil/death/darkness on the island. MYTHBUSTED

  • Miles, Richard, Ben will swoop down and save the day like Han and Chewbacca. MYTHBUSTED (but still has some hope as Miles survived, and I don’t think Smokie can kill Richard)

  • The gather round the fire method of answer revelations/exposition sucks: MYTHBUSTED (though I technically I stated I didn’t like Locke’s fireside answers, so still technically unbusted)

Now here are some threads that are still valid, and can cling to tenuously as we go into Sunday.

  • Everyone that Jacob brought to the Island was broken when he touched them.

  • Redemption gets you crossed off the list, but doesn’t disqualify you from service to the island.

image Aside from that, I have very little idea of what’s going on, and I’m gonna revel in that a bit.  But my brain, it needs to release some pressure.

  • Ben always has a plan, and part of me thinks he’s allowing himself to get close to his enemy to serve his own purpose.  He’s not trusting Eff-Locke, but by keeping close to him, he at least can serve the island by thwarting his plans.

  • Although I think Eff-Locke dispatched (not killed) Richard so he could continue to use Ben has his muscle, his sidearm/weapon to kill people that he can’t touch.  Like Widmore.  So Ben was possibly manipulated, but it was also some sweet revenge for Alex’s death (which was nicely foreshadowed in the sideways.)

  • The concert?  Is Jack, David, Claire, Miles and Charlotte going to the same place.  Is Daniel going to be playing with Charlie?  Is that where Desmond is taking Kate in Hurley’s Camaro?  Where is Hurley taking Sayid? Is Desmond gonna lure everyone to the airport to commune around Christian’s coffin?  Who’s missing in the number of people that still need to ‘get it’?

Some things to remember, since I don’t think I’ll pre-hash this episode between now and Sunday night.  Some things going on in and around you are:
